According to rumors, Valve has been testing a game that has been in development since 2018 called deadlock.
That’s according to multiple people involved in testing the game, who leaked images of the game online.
Valve reporter Tyler McVicker (via Eurogamer) confirmed this, saying that closed alpha playtesting is underway with “hundreds” of people playing.
YouTube users involved in the competitive gaming scene are also said to be invited to participate in game testing.
More information about the game was confirmed by content creator Gabe Follower, who provided more details about Deadlock and said that it is a “competitive third-person, hero-based shooter” that “will be played on a large scale.” 6v6 battles take place on the map, with four lanes and available abilities and items. It features tower defense mechanics, a blend of fantasy and steampunk settings, and characters including magicians, “strange creatures and robots.” Similar to Bioshock Infinite, the game is said to allow for the use of floating tracks Take fast travel.

“basically, [it’s] Fast-paced and fun ADHD game. A combination of “Dota 2”, “Team Fortress 2”, “Overwatch”, “Valorant”, “Smite”, “Orcs Must Die”. Gabe Follower said, and he further stated that the hero design seems to be inspired by Dota. He also confirmed that one of the heroes is named Gray Claw.
Since Valve hasn’t made an announcement yet, it’s probably best to keep the matter within the realm of rumors until the company decides to reveal the game – despite how legitimate these images (leaked by people who don’t care about violating an NDA) look.
Valve will likely announce the game during the Summer Games Festival, which kicks off on June 7 with the annual show hosted by Geoff Keighley. We have to watch and find out.
