A new game from Valve is coming soon. This news alone triggers a whole range of emotions in gaming fans: joy, surprise, disbelief and fear. Fear that it won’t be Portal 3, Half-Life 3 or Left 4 Dead 3 after all. Unfortunately we have to tell you directly: This fear is justified, because it is indeed a rather small game.
Aperture desk job to be exact. Although the game officially takes place in the portal universe, it has nothing else to do with the main parts. The reason for the release is obvious: Valve wants to celebrate the launch of the Steam Deck. We explain to you what the short game is about.

What is Aperture Desk Job about?
The entertaining title offers the portal-typical humor, which is already evident in the official game description:
It’s your first day at your new job, your heart is full of hope and your legs are full of dreams to climb the corporate ladder. But life has other plans, which are all about chairs.
Lower your expectations: this is not a sequel to Portal. And now set your expectations a little higher because it’s part of the expanded universe of these games. In Desk Job, Aperture Science puts you in control. All from your convenient, versatile desk.
What exactly you will have to do as part of your job for Aperture Science remains to be seen. Contrary to the game description, you should expect not to be the only one sitting in a chair in your office. From the pictures it can be seen that you operate machines, are responsible for the production of some items such as toilets and washing machines and are also acquainted with one Wheatley-like robots closes.
The gameplay has an overarching goal: You should get to know the controls and possibilities of the Steam Deck in a playful way. Because little by little, early pre-orderers will receive the new Valve handheld, which would like to be inaugurated in a befitting manner. The best news: Aperture Desk Job is free. So you don’t have to enter into a binding contract with Aperture Science to work with dedication for the company. Is not that great?! In addition, the game is natural also playable on a normal PC. The only requirement is a controller, as input via mouse and keyboard is not supported.
However, there is a small catch: Aperture Desk Job appears only on March 1, 2022. Before you can start your new job, you have to sleep twice. But the wait is worth it. Because on your first day there is a cake.
