Valve just announced yesterday (June 27) that they will be ramping up production of the Steam deck, and now it looks like Valve has gone all out.
Ultimately, Valve plans to ship more than twice as many Steam decks in Q3 as it did in Q2. So if you’re waiting for your booking email, it probably won’t take much time. Q3 pre-order emails to arrive as early as June 30.
Valve announced via the Steam Deck Twitter account, “There’s some good news on the production front. We’ve just sent out the last batch of Q2 emails, and we’ll start sending out Q3 pre-order emails on the 30th.”
“Production has picked up, and starting today, our weekly Steam deck count will more than double!” If you’re one of the few during the Q3 order window, that’s great news.
Hi! Some good news on the production side. We’ve just sent the last batch of Q2 emails and we’ll start sending out Q3 pre-order emails on the 30th.

The highly sought-after handheld device is likely to be in your hands soon. Although, it takes a little more patience first. Valve continued their tweet, “If you’re waiting for your email and haven’t received it yet, please give it some time to traverse the internet. Or just go to https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck (while logged in) to see you reservation status.”
If you’re not entirely sure about the status of your reservation right now, checking the link above will do the trick for you. In the meantime, if you’re still not sure whether to preorder, check out Assistant Editor Alex Donaldson’s in-depth review of the Steam Deck; it sold me.
Valve designer Lawrence Yang responded to the tweets to clarify some of the questions people had. Back in April, they suggested a booking window for the second quarter between April and June. What’s more, Yang added, the emails will be distributed in batches to those who book.
“In the weeks when there are two batches, the emails will be sent out Monday and Thursday morning (Pacific time),” Yang said. So if you’re as eager as I am, there’s no doubt you’ll be on June 30th. Refresh your inbox every Monday and Thursday at 9am PST / 5pm BST and hopefully your Steam deck is closer to your hands.
