Dutch electric bicycle manufacturer VanMoof launched the 2020 VanMoof S3 and X3. The new electric bike has been technically upgraded, but the price has dropped. We show you two electric scooters.

Finally, there is a direct successor model of the very successful electric bicycle VanMoof S2 and X2! Both electric bicycles are very popular. Last year, we were able to test VanMoof S2 and understood this enthusiasm to a large extent. The acceleration button at the end of the handle is particularly attractive to us.

We are more excited about the new version officially launched by the Dutch manufacturer on April 21, 2020. Good news in advance: the price is falling-indeed it is falling sharply! VanMoof S3 and X3 are available now at a price of 1,998 euros.

In appearance, the VanMoof S3 and the slightly smaller X3 look very similar to their predecessors. The light color of the frame is a new feature in 2020. However, black is still available. However, the built-in technology has undergone major changes. VanMoof insisted on trying and testing things such as a built-in alarm system, integrated lights or a built-in lock on the rear axle, but improved electric bikes elsewhere. You will now learn more about many changes. Fortunately, there are also some features in VanMoof S3 and X3, which we have been appreciated in previous versions. Most importantly, the lift button on the right side of the handle. No matter which level of support you choose, no matter who you press, you can ensure full power. This means: Your pedaling power has increased fourfold! Very suitable for this kind of annoying climb on the start of traffic lights or on the way to work.

In order not to interfere with the slim appearance, VanMoof S3 does not have an on-board computer, just like other electric bicycles know. Instead, you call up basic information, such as speed or selected support level, through the eye-catching dot matrix display integrated into the upper frame tube by the manufacturer.

By the way, VanMoof has also modified related supporting applications. Firmware updates can be imported wirelessly. Bold people can also activate the "American" mode in the app. Then, active pedal support will be performed at a maximum speed of up to 32 km / h. However, this is illegal in Germany.

Built-in anti-theft protection

VanMoof is also known by many bike fans for its "Bike Hunter". If your electric bike is stolen, a professional bike hunter will take over your search. global! The clearance rate is high. The manufacturer stated that 75% of all stolen VanMoof bicycles were found within four days.

Vanmoof X3 demo

An average of twelve brand electric bicycles are stolen every month, a very low number. This may also be caused by the bicycle's built-in alarm system. And the rear kick lock installed on the rear axle. The rear wheel can be blocked by a smart phone or a lock controlled by an emergency code, making it difficult for the thief.

You can buy VanMoof S3 and VanMoof X3 through the manufacturer's website from April 21. The price of both electric bicycles at the beginning of the sale is 1,998 euros, and according to the manufacturer, this price should not be increased "in the coming months. Delivery will begin in May 2020.

Note: In the earlier version of this article, it said that the new VanMoof S3 and X3 will have built-in GPS trackers. As the manufacturer told us, this is not the case.
