After a crazy return to video game releases in September, the month of October promises to be mega-busy, with a veritable festival of big titles available to watch across all platforms.
The return to video game releases got off to a very good start in September, with several notable titles like Age of Mythology Retold, the smash hit Space Marine 2, a dream come true on Nintendo Switch with Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and a few more great gems like Le Valiant Petit Page or the PS5 exclusive Astro Bot. Today it ends for Microsoft with Shattered Space, the Starfield DLC. The month of October, if that’s even possible, will be even bigger for all platforms. So much so that navigation is a bit difficult. Here’s our roundup of the top video game releases you should check out.
The hype surrounding video game releases in 2024 peaks in October
When it comes to new video game releases, October regularly sees several notable titles release. In particular, in the first ten days of the month we can count on Sponge Bob: Patrick’s Star on all platforms on October 4th. On the 8th, Diablo 4 will finally welcome Vessel of Hatred, its first expansion that offers a new region to explore and a new class.
The second ten days of the month will be much busier with big releases, with a truly explosive October 11th. On the one hand Europa, a promising Zelda-like game expected on PC and Switch, and on the other hand Metaphor ReFantazio, the new game from the brilliant minds behind the Persona series. But the biggest piece of the day is undoubtedly Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, a sort of Super Saiyan God menu from the late Akira Toriyama’s legendary work. October 15th is also busy, with Neva, a captivating title that succeeds the great GRIS, and Aeternum, the expansion of Amazon’s MMO New World. Finally, on October 17th and 18th we have Super Mario Party Jamboree, certainly the biggest episode of the license, and Unknown 9 Awakening, in which Anya Chalotra, the interpreter of Yennefer in the Netflix series The Witcher, takes center stage.
After all, you can’t beat the last decade of October when it comes to great new video game releases. The 22nd will welcome three more new titles: the promising exclusive Meta Quest 3 Batman Arkham Shadow, Fae Farm and the early access of No More Room in Hell 2, developed by the studio behind the Chivalry games. The 24th is all about romance with Date Everything and Romancing SaGa 2. On the 25th, two video game giants will make their comeback: Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and Sonic x Shadow Generations. We’re wrapping up the October 2024 releases with two highly anticipated titles: Life is Strange Double Exposure on the 29th and Dragon Age 4: The Veilguard on the 31st.
