After the success of the first season, “Vikings: Valhalla” was renewed for two more seasons. Netzwelt tells you what to expect in the upcoming episodes of season 3.
- The “Vikings” spin-off “Vikings: Valhalla” was a success for Netflix after the start of the first season, which is why the series was renewed for two new seasons.
- On January 12th, the 2nd season started with eight episodes and the 3rd season is also in the starting blocks.
- But when is expected and Season 3 and what will it be about? You can find out here!
“Vikings: Valhalla” is the spiritual successor to the popular Viking saga “Vikings” about Ragnar and his family. The Netflix spin-off series quickly became a huge success, which is why the streaming service not only renewed the series for a second season, but also increased it to three.
It has been known since spring 2022 that after the second season, which started on January 12, 2023, there will be further episodes of the Vikings.
“Vikings: Valhalla” Season 3: Launch
Since “Vikings: Valhalla” was extended by a third season before the release of the 2nd season, the 3rd season shouldn’t be long in coming either. If Netflix follows the previous publication rhythm, we can expect new episodes as early as the beginning of 2024. There were less than 12 months between the 1st and 2nd season, which is why a release so soon is not unlikely.
“Vikings: Valhalla” Season 3: Storyline
In the second season of “Vikings: Valhalla” Freydis, Harald and Leif went their separate ways again. This time, however, they may not be reunited any time soon. After the death of Jomsborg’s leader Harekr, Freydis is now the new ruler of the Viking fortress. He then opened the gates and let all the townspeople enter or leave freely. In doing so, he puts an end to human exploitation.
In addition, Jomsborg made peace with Queen Aelfgifu (Pollyanna McIntosh), the new ruler of Kattegat. This made the fortress a safe place for all the pagans who were left homeless and without a temple.
Harald and Leif, on the other hand, went to Constantinople in the second season, where the Emperor wanted to do them a favor. Harald became closer to Empress Elena in the city, which is probably why he will remain in Constantinople. There he may work for the Emperor in the future. Leif could also stay in Constantinople to continue his research there.
Queen Emma, on the other hand, has her hands full with Godwin. After getting what he wanted and marrying King Canute’s niece Gytha, the Queen now has a close eye on him. Because she knows what he’s capable of.
“Vikings: Valhalla” Season 3: Cast
All of the cast from previous seasons will likely be returning for season three. These would include Frida Gustavsson (“Tigers”) as Freydis, Sam Corlett (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) as Leif, Leo Suter (“The Liberator”) as Harald and Laura Berlin (“Ruby Red”) as Queen Emma.
“Vikings: Valhalla” Season 3: Production
The successful screenwriter Jeb Stuart (“On the Run”, “Die Hard”) serves as showrunner for the “Vikings” sequel. In addition, the crew for the production of the series largely coincides with the parent series “Vikings”, since the new series will also be shot in Ireland.
“Vikings: Valhalla” Staffel 3: Trailer
So far there is no trailer for the upcoming season. Other material has not yet been published either. If anything changes, you will find it here.
