Virgin River Season 3: Where’s Hope?

• Hope McCrea is rarely seen in the new episodes of “Virgin River”.

But why does Hope shine in the new episodes with absence? In the story, she visits her family in South Carolina and then has a serious car accident and therefore hardly has a scene.

In truth, the explanation is even simpler: Actress Annette O’Toole was unable to film any scenes with the other actors due to the corona pandemic. Showrunner Sue Tenney reveals this to the US magazine TVLine.

It was natural [aufgrund der] Pandemic. [O’Toole] couldn’t travel so we had to turn around. In fact, I really like what we come up with. I think it works very well. Keeping her present on the show, even if she only appears in a few episodes, was our priority. They are talked about, I keep them in the foreground.

But at the end of the season it is very bad for Hope. After a car accident, she is in an artificial coma because her brain is swollen. Whether she will survive is not yet clear in the series, but Tenney suggests she will survive. “Virgin River” Season 4 will not dwell on hospital scenes.

What is certain is that the accident will turn into a very emotional story, Tenney reveals to the US magazine Entertainment Weekly.

But we are very careful to show the truth, so we go to extremes to resolve the situation. We always stick to the medical parameters, but we already know what we want to do with the story, which is a complicated, emotional drama.

Of course, that sounds like Hope will survive, but will be very limited. In the event of her death, however, the complicated, emotional drama could also unfold on Doc. Let’s hope Netflix “Virgin River” has a 4th season extended so we can see what happens next.
