CD Projekt revealed that the game codenamed “Polaris” is about to enter full production. The game is “the first work in the new Witcher series” and until the official name is determined, we have been calling it “The Witcher 4” to avoid confusion.
According to co-CEO Michał Nowakowski in a press release detailing the studio’s latest earnings figures and progress on current projects, pre-production work on Polaris is nearing completion, and the developer is “approaching a major milestone” that will mark this. As of now, therefore, CD Projekt is “preparing” to move on to the next phase.

In an earnings video that added this sorcery information, CD Projekt CFO Piotr Nielubowicz added that in the first half of 2024, the Polaris development team “made substantial progress” that will allow it to enter full production “soon.”
Returning to the press release, Nowakowski continued: “The first half of the year has also been a busy time for our Boston studio as we lay the groundwork for Project Orion – a new game set in the Cyberpunk universe.”
He also praised all the cool things modders have been doing since the release of The Witcher 3’s REDkit modding tool in May, writing: “It’s been a few months since our development tools were released to gamers, and there has already been a flurry of interesting modding projects.”
During an earnings call regarding these financials (thanks, IGN), Nowakowski also seemed to offer some hope to those eagerly awaiting a second season of Cyberpunk Edge Runner, revealing that the studio at least “plans to do more on the animation side of Cyberpunk,” so you might be able to see something of that, even if Lucy and David’s story is done.
“As we continue our intense work, each quarter brings us closer to the point where we can share more information about what we’re doing,” Nielubowicz said at the end of the earnings video, which you can watch in its entirety above.
While you wait for more information about Project Polaris, let me introduce you to a Witcher 3 REDkit mod that lets Geralt fly a large ship in very weird ways. Oh, and Andrzej Sapkowski said he recently finished writing another Witcher book.
