Announced at today’s Nintendo Direct (June 21), Return of Detective Pikachu Coming to Nintendo Switch October 6.
Before the 2019 movie, Detective Pikachu was the game of the same name that launched on the 3DS in 2018. Detective Pikachu follows Tim Goodman, who finds Pikachu and realizes he can understand what the electric mouse is saying. As a result, the adventure of the two to solve the case together began, and Pikachu did not shut up from beginning to end.
Now, five years after the game’s full release in 2018, loyal fans of the grumpy but lovable detective will be able to embark on a brand new adventure in Detective Pikachu Returns.
The trailer shown during the Nintendo Direct didn’t give us much insight into the gameplay, or even the story behind the sequel. That said, when the sequel was first announced shortly after the Detective Pikachu movie’s release, it was revealed that the sequel would “follow the same story beat as the movie,” but in a different resolution (thanks ScreenRant). Well, we can look forward to a cinematic retelling of the 2019 story!
In Detective Pikachu Returns, Pikachu will be voiced by Will Arnett (Arrested Development, BoJack Horseman, etc.), which feels very fitting. He has a bad temper, sounds like he might smoke if he was PG friendly, and he loves coffee. In addition to Pikachu and Tim Goodman, there are many other fan-favorite Pokémon, including but not limited to Mewtwo, Slowpoke, Inteleon, Scorbunny, Indeedee, and many more.
Detective Pikachu Returns is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 6th. Will you buy it? let us know!
