At today’s Warhammer Skulls event we have a new Warhammer 40,000: Dark Tide trailer. Darktide is the new game from Fatshark, the developer of the Vermintide series; a four-player co-op event in the same vein.
The game’s September release date was confirmed in today’s trailer, which also kicked off pre-orders on Steam as well as the Windows and Xbox stores.
The trailer doesn’t show much gameplay, but it does provide some narrative setup for the criminals we’ll play with. The people who form the team are Tate City’s last hope in the face of Chaos.
After losing its true protector, the Inquisition devised a plan to form a team of rejecters to save the city. Kind of like Suicide Squad.
Darktide released two versions. There’s a $40 Standard Edition that includes the game, weapon trinket, and character portrait frame. The $60 Imperial Edition is an upgrade that further adds four unique career attire, eight weapon skin patterns, a headgear, and an Ogryn body tattoo. It also includes an exclusive portrait frame and a makeup backpack for human characters.
Finally, if you choose the Empire Edition, you’ll get 2,500 Darktide’s premium currency, Aquilas.
As a reminder, the Basic Edition will be available in Game Pass on Xbox and PC in September.
Fatshark hints we’ll see more of Darktide next week, so hopefully this includes in-depth gameplay.
A year ago, also at Warhammer Skulls, we learned a little bit about the game’s story from author and acclaimed author Dan Abnett. Warhammer 40,000: Dark Tide is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S on September 13.
