Actually, patches should be a nice thing. But sometimes studios go a little deeper with their updates and change things that the fans don’t like so much. This happened recently in the case of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
The last patch for the brutal shooting shack Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 tweaked the balancing a bit and that angered some fans. The changes made the game significantly harder than before. For example, some bosses took significantly less damage and on certain difficulty levels the players’ armor was sometimes reduced massively.

A little more challenge is usually not a problem, but the development studio Saber Interactive meant it a little too well. Fans vented their anger on Reddit, among other places, and the Steam reviews of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 also suffered from the players’ displeasure. Even the malicious word “unfair” was mentioned several times.
Apparently the studio has heard the criticism and is now vowing to improve. The developers say: “We have read your feedback carefully on the latest patch for Space Marine and are actively working on another one that includes balancing changes. It should be released next week. Thank you again for your support.”
But not all changes in the patch to version 4.0 for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 were met with criticism. For example, the update also brought a new difficulty level and added co-op operation to the game.
Apart from this faux pas, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is very popular. The game was released on September 9, 2024 for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 and has since sold 4.5 million copies, according to Saber Interactive.
