Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 comes with various multiplayer modes and also includes a completely new co-op variant.
At the Warhammer Skulls event, there was once again a sign of life from Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and there was even a surprise. It was confirmed that the title will not only have various multiplayer variants again, but also a brand new Operations mode that can be played cooperatively with up to three players.
This means there is another way to join the game together. It was already known that the single-player campaign can also be played cooperatively. However, both are supposed to be linked in terms of content.
“You hear a conversation with Titus in the campaign and then you can play the other side of the conversation as PvE Space Marines and see what was going on in the background of the conversation,” says Oliver Hollis-Leick of Saber Interactive. “It’s a really nice way to have a very replayable game system while also learning more about this ongoing war.”
Otherwise, Space Marine 2 brings back the familiar PvP variants from its predecessor, in which squads of up to six players can exert themselves. There are six different classes to choose from with numerous visual customization options. The game modes in the portfolio will be Annihilation, Seize Ground and Capture and Control.
It will be interesting to see how Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 fares when it is released on September 9th. The title has already been through a massive delay and it will be interesting to see if and how Saber Interactive has used the extra time.
As for the multiplayer modes, you can get some impressions in the new trailer:
