With Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Saber Interactive and Focus have landed a jackpot that is being worked on even further. Patch 5 is coming and brings new content.
Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment probably wouldn't have dreamed of that either. Sure, the hopes for the launch of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 were certainly high, but no one had any idea that the title would be so successful. Published in September, the title has now sold over five million copies, as Focus proudly announced in its own forum.
A huge success and a more than good reason for the developers to continue working on the game. And that's exactly what's happening, because Patch 5 has now been announced for the first half of December and it not only brings bug fixes and optimizations, but also new content and features.
It starts with a new mission for co-op PvE. The new mission, titled “Operation: Obelisk,” takes place parallel to the final events of the main campaign and takes players to Demerium, where they are tasked with disrupting the energy protecting the Aurora Device. You'll also fight your way through a pitch-dark tomb and even face off against a new Majoris enemy type, the Tzaangor Enlightened. They then appear in other missions.
Furthermore, with the new patch the game also gets the upscalers NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR 3, so that you can improve your frame rates a bit. Also included is the new Dark Angels Chapter Pack, which gives you various cosmetics. The patch will also add new armor pieces and new customization options in the form of colored lenses with 15 different colors.
And it gets even better, because Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is also getting support for the PS5 Pro. On Sony's new console, the third-person shooter will use PSSR to upscale to 4K resolution in both Performance and Quality modes, with the former's native render resolution ranging between 1080p and 1440p and the latter's between 1080p and 2160p. Performance mode will also run at 60 FPS, while Quality mode will target 30 FPS.
