After the slip that one of the members of DC Studios on who will be the director of the new Superman movie, James Gunn makes it official: the American filmmaker will direct and write the script for Superman: Legacy, the film that will kick off the new DC Extended Universe.

Through a thread, Gunn wanted to talk about how the process to direct Superman, commenting that at first he did not feel prepared to be able to capture a version of the superhero that he had always dreamed of. It wasn’t until several months ago that the filmmaker ventured into making one of his life’s movies.

However, not only has this news been confirmed, but DC has released the first synopsis of this reboot of the Man of Steel through his official website.

Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American wayguided by human kindness in a world that sees such kindness as passé.

In addition, Gunn wanted to highlight in his Twitter thread that he wants to see how the Kryptonian aristocracy of his original parents has influenced the farm life of his adoptive parents on Earth to make according to what decisions within the film.
