Warzone 2.0 has a new looting system, thanks to the expanded backpack functionality, which offers more room, so loot options when you manage to kill someone or find something delicious near Al Mazrah. The question on the mind of some players – is it too complicated?
That’s just one day since Warzone 2.0 was released, as the community ran around and played with habits picked up due to the two-plus years of the original Warzone and its insanely rushed loot system. You now need to rummage through a dead opponent’s bag to get all their loot before their items drop to the floor.
Here is an example. Posted by user GimmeDatBredittor on the Warzone reddit, we can see the end of a tense shootout, with the victors opening their new loot. They initially mistakenly clicked on the loot they wanted, fired the bullet and accidentally closed the loot menu. They then have to go back and try to grab what they want, but before they can, a third party rushes down to take them away.
One of the biggest issues that some online players debate is time. Rather than having all the loot thrown in front of you for a quick grab, you’ll need to browse a menu to determine what they have, and what you want. This will ultimately come down to a difference of a few seconds, but in such a busy PvP environment in Warzone 2.0, that often makes the difference.
This, combined with the fact that the menu takes up the entire screen leads to prolonged sensory deprivation for some players. Flipping around in the bag and not being able to see what’s going on makes you an easy kill. In MW2’s new DMZ mode, this makes sense. It’s the slow-paced aspect of the game that lends itself to an overall slower, more tactical experience. But in Warzone 2.0, when any stone slinger can dash through a doorway at a million miles per hour, that’s precious time wasted.
Although, let’s not see the example post as a complete victim of the system. A misclick is a misclick, and while it’s certainly annoying to be activated, it’s not like they’re grabbing a plate or a gun (by the way, dropping out of the bag means you can snatch the weapon off the floor in no time). Either way, they all died. Only a quick loot and dash can save them.
As user Unkoalafeid pointed out, opening packs has a quick auto-loot option that lets you grab armor, cash, and ammo in no time. It’s a quick pick for those looking for a meal-and-sprint approach to reaping the harvest after a shootout. The options are there, but there are still a lot of complaints, especially with multiple loot sources close to each other. As one user put it: “Half the time I don’t know what I’m grabbing and what’s in my inventory, it’s overwhelming and counterintuitive.”
Perhaps this problem will go away in the next few weeks as players get used to the new system. But for now, the fierce debate continues over whether it’s any good, let alone an improvement over the old system. Let us know your thoughts below. Did you die from the new loot system?
