Warzone 2 Uber drivers may park on Al Mazrah streets near you

Thanks to proximity chat in Warzone 2, players have started their own in-game Uber service, driving squads across Al Mazrah for free, provided they don’t get shot.

Examples include Reddit user Crescendummain, who posted one of their journeys on Warzone Reddit earlier today. In their video (there’s some harsh language in it, before you go see it), you can see a full squad of four hop into their buggy as they hold the road, make sure their mates stay safe, and Successfully reach the destination on time.

This is all thanks to the new proximity voice chat feature in Warzone 2, which allows players who aren’t on the same squad to communicate with each other. With a few words and friendly reassurances, Warzone 2 players have been finding new ways to interact beyond shooting and stabbing. If you have the game, give it a shot and try to strike up a friendly chat or banter with people you meet right now.

I’m sure there will be some complaints about collusion and how this can ruin personal playlists with unfair collaborations. But, I say to them: take it easy, eh? The Uber service in the game is definitely collusion, but who cares? You rarely find some goofy fun in games outside of Rust and others, and its presence in Warzone 2 is already pretty good – even without the voice communication crap.

I can’t stress enough how much this opens up possibilities for player interaction like we see in the wildest social games. It’s the kind of thing that recent Metaverse games have tried to recreate, but have largely failed due to a lack of really good games behind them. In Warzone 2, you can join in and win, or you can be an Uber driver, or who knows what else? It’s all part of the fun, isn’t that what games are about?

Either way, this is sure to be the first of an ongoing trend of Warzone 2 players messing with voice communications in creative ways. We can’t wait to see the collective thoughts of the Warzone community in the coming weeks.
