The Apple Watch is set to get a major update this year. It might even be the biggest since the introduction of the smartwatch.
- While iOS 17 probably only brings a few new functions to the iPhone, watchOS 10 is expected to bring major changes.
- The update could possibly be the biggest since the introduction of the smartwatch.
- Among other things, the user interface is to receive a comprehensive overhaul.
Apple is expected to present the next major operating system updates at its own WWDC developer conference in early June. A lot has already leaked out about iOS 17 innovations – except for sideloading of apps, the additional functions will probably be limited.
The Apple Watch appears to be different. Loud Bloomberg-Journalist Mark Gurman Apple is planning a major update with many new functions and a revised interface. Since little will change on the hardware side of the Apple Watch 9, the manufacturer is apparently planning major software innovations.
There are hardly any details from Gurman’s side. However, the reference to the revision of the smartwatch interface makes one sit up and take notice and is reminiscent of the update to iOS 7. Apple fundamentally revised the design of the operating system here in 2014. This may also be the case with watchOS 10.
Since the introduction of the Apple Watch in 2015, little has changed visually. The operating system is now eight years old. A fresh coat of paint could therefore please many Apple fans.
