Co-op games are all the rage. In addition to Valheim and the upcoming It Takes Two, We Were Here has also caused a sensation in the past few weeks and was available for a short time free of charge on PlayStation Network at the launch. According to the developer, 5 million players have now played We Were Here. With We Were Here Forever, the fourth part of the original co-op puzzler has just been announced.
We Were Here was technically extremely old-fashioned and sometimes a bit cumbersome in terms of play, but it delighted many players with its unique, original game concept: In the puzzle game, which lasts only about an hour, two players had to solve tricky puzzles together to escape from a castle .
The special trick: the characters were in completely different places in the castle and were only connected to each other via a radio. Communication and teamwork were therefore the focus of the adventure, because the various tasks could only be solved if the players helped each other on the jumps. While one player had to walk through a maze, for example, the other player was equipped with the corresponding map and was able to guide him through it. Elsewhere, one player had to press symbols in a specific order, but only the other player had the code table to do so.
Auf We Were Here the two successors followed We Were Here Too and We Were Here Together, which made significant progress in terms of graphics and also set new priorities in terms of content: In the third part you are no longer trapped in Castle Rock separately, but together on your way there through one snowy landscape.
We Were Here Forever has now been announced, the fourth installment in the series. It will be released for PC via Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S. The Dutch developers of Total Mayhem Games promise the biggest and most beautiful We Were Here so far. This time more attention was paid to the story and atmosphere and the controls and interface were heavily revised. The press release even mentions a real “next-gen experience”.
We Were Here Forever is slated for release in the fourth quarter of 2021.
