In the fall, Netflix lets the Addams family loose on us in “Wednesday”! Tim Burton’s new series amuses and shocks in the first trailer with pranks, blood rain and Gwendoline Christie.
- Netflix is bringing back the Addams family with Wednesday.
- Eight eerily beautiful episodes will be released in autumn, directed by Tim Burton.
- A first trailer already convinces with black humor and prominent faces.
The world of the Addams family seems tailor-made for director Tim Burton. However, he declined to direct the first Addams Family film in 1991 – he was too busy with Batman Returns. But now Burton can let his fable for morbid humor run free again, because the Addams’ are back – in series form!
The Netflix series Wednesday focuses on the Addams daughter of the same name, who was portrayed by Christina Ricci in the ’90s movies. Ricci also returns in “Wednesday” but in a new role, Wednesday Addams is now played by Jenna Ortega.
In the first trailer, we experience how the behavior of the bizarre creepy family causes confusion or even fear and terror among classmates, colleagues and neighbors. Netflix is not yet revealing a start date, but the first season is scheduled to start in autumn – probably on Halloween, i.e. in October.
In addition to Ortega and Ricci, the trailer also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman as Morticia, and Gomez Addams and Gwendoline Christie, most recently in ‘Sandman’, as the school principal Larissa Weems. Another trailer can be expected at the end of September or beginning of October, at the latest then it should also be clear when “Wednesday” awaits us in Netflix’s new program.
