Season 4 of the wacky sci-fi western series “Westworld” is about to start. We tell you 8 things you didn’t know about the show.
The Western-style amusement park opens its doors again. After 2 years of radio silence, the HBO series “Westworld” returns for a fourth season on June 26th. The series is a reboot of the 1973 film Westworld.
Author Michael Crichton wrote the screenplay and directed. Even if his western didn’t celebrate any great commercial success, we have him to thank for what is probably the most famous dinosaur film of all time: “Jurassic Park”.
Inspired by his idea of an amusement park gone awry, Crichton wrote the book “DinoPark” in 1990. In 1993, his novel became a classic in film history in collaboration with David Koepp (“Mission: Impossible”) and Steven Spielberg (“ET – The Extra-Terrestrial”).
However, “Westworld” should not be forgotten either. In August 2013, HBO announced that it had commissioned a pilot episode for a potential television series based on the Westworld movie. The screenplay was written by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.
Nolan received production support from JJ Abrams (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”) and Bryan Berg (“Lost”). The series was originally scheduled for release in 2015. First broadcast in Germany was on December 25, 2016.
On the occasion of the new season, we have put together some fun facts about “Westworld” for you. Because, for example, did you know that none other than Clint Eastwood was to play a role in the series? No? You can find out what role he should play and much more on the following pages. Have fun!
