Dead Space returns. But not with a successor, instead there is a new edition of the very first part. The makers of Star Wars: Squadrons are responsible for this: Motive Studios. And their senior producer Phil Ducharme is now delivering across the street IGN exciting new information on aspects such as loading times or microtransactions.

You can find all general information about the Dead Space Remake in our article on the announcement of the new edition: We have collected for you what we know about the project so far.

Without loading times through the USG Ishimura

The Dead Space Remake should do without loading times at all. According to Ducharme, this is not only due to the NextGen technology – the new edition appears exclusively for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S – but also to the Frostbite Engine. After all, Dead Space is being developed from scratch. Old assets are not used at all.

Ducharme explains that above all the atmosphere should benefit from this circumstance and the team is working on making the immersion even more dense for the player:

“[Die schnelleren SSDs neuer Konsolen] mean that there are no loading times. There won’t be a moment when your gaming experience is interrupted when we pause the tracking shot. You can play seamlessly from the start screen to the credits. “

The original Dead Space could not do without loading times, but sometimes it was quite cleverly concealed by elevator rides or doors that took a little time to open. In addition, there were often loading screens – such as after each completed level – which interrupted the entire game.

No microtransactions like in Dead Space 3

No microtransactions in Dead Space Remake: At the same time, the new edition of Isaac Clarke’s first struggle for survival against the Necromorphs is to forego real money purchases entirely. In Dead Space 3, microtransactions and the (optional) purchase of premium items were among the greatest points of criticism.

From the bad mood on the part of fans and the press that resulted, one has probably drawn conclusions at Electronic Arts:

“We’re also learning from past mistakes like the microtransactions that we won’t have in this game, for example.”

The original should be honored and improved

Same, but different: Last but not least, Ducharme provides a few details on the differences between the original and the remake. So you want to reproduce the story true to the original, but also refine it.

According to Campos-Oriola, this is expressed by adding ideas from the expanded Dead Space universe to the new edition – for example from the successors or the animated films and TV series.

What exactly this is currently remains to be seen. However, it should not only be about narrative ideas, but also those that affect playful features.

The most important thing about the Dead Space Remake

The new edition of Dead Space currently has no release date, but should appear exclusively for PC and NextGen consoles. So far there is a first teaser trailer for the remake, but it doesn’t show too much about the game:
