Call of Duty: Warzone has a serious cheater problem. As we recently reported, many players feel like they are at the mercy of hackers because there is no direct reporting tool. For some, gaming fun suffers massively from fraudsters. Activision now made a statement on the problem and presented a concept to get the increasing numbers of cheaters under control.
»Cheaters are not welcome«
According to Activision, Warzone has been on March 10th more than 50,000 hackers permanently banned. Current figures on this will be published regularly from now on. A number of measures are designed to help get cheaters out of Warzone as much as possible:
- Activision's security teams monitor the game around the clock and keep an eye on the data to quickly identify possible violations.
- They check all the scams, including aimbots and wallhacks.
- Activision is working on that Improve report toolsso that players can report any scammers directly from the game. The user interface should also be adapted if necessary.
- In-game reports should be filtered and analyzed directly so that cheaters can be punished with a ban as quickly as possible.
The Penalties for violations of the rules in Warzone range from temporary bans (48 hours to 14 days) to permanent exclusion. A zero tolerance policy should always apply to hackers, as can be seen from the official rules:
"Any user who uses unauthorized third-party software to gain an unfair advantage or manipulate statistics and / or game data will be punished. Unauthorized third-party software includes, but is not limited to: aimbots, wallhacks , Trainers, statistics hacks, texture hacks, leaderboard hacks, injectors or any other software that intentionally changes game data (…). "
It's definitely a good idea to give players more ways to report cheaters right away. We can only hope that the measures can actually reduce the number of cheaters in Warzone – Apex Legends already proved that it could work, which thanks to in-game reports could ban 800,000 hackers.
Something funny after this serious topic: Not an April Fool's joke, but a curious bug turns crates into deadly enemies in Warzone.
