Fantasy Tower developer Hotta Studio has revealed its next game, Neverness to Everness, and it’s a wild-looking game that combines a bunch of your favorite games.
The Grand Theft Auto series is already pretty ridiculous, but Hotta Studio looks to be surpassing it with Neverness to Everness (say that five times fast), its latest upcoming open-world RPG that clearly draws on Rockstar’s game series. Hotta released a trailer and first look at gameplay earlier today, and it looks like a promising new game. First of all, it has GTA elements. Unlike the fantasy worlds of Genshin Impact and Tower of Fantasy, Neverness to Everness is set in a city, much like GTA, where you can drive around while damaging various properties.
I can’t tell from the trailer if you can just hop into any car you like like in GTA, but you can at least customize your car. The game is set in the “paranormal city NTE,” which also looks to be related to the driving part, as part of the trailer shows you chasing a ghost motorcycle through the city. Oddly, these supernatural elements seem to borrow from the style of Control as you wander around on foot. At one point while exploring the city, the trailer shows that everything goes weird, with its inhabitants disappearing and a bunch of vending machines forming some kind of doorway.

Next up is the combat section, where you’ll fight a haunted vending machine, and after the battle you’ll enter a surreal area that’s constantly shifting shapes—it reminded me of the Bureau of Control. The combat looks similar to Genshin Impact, with the same emphasis on simple but gorgeous moves.
You also seem to be able to buy an apartment, or at least rent one (the trailer isn’t in English, so I couldn’t tell), which again feels very GTA-like. On top of that, you also seem to be able to walk on walls and ceilings, which reminded me of Gravity Rush, though without the gravity-shifting aspect – oh, and of course you have the equivalent of a glider from Breath of the Wild, like pretty much every open-world game these days.
There’s no word on a release date yet, but word is that more information will be revealed in September (likely during the Tokyo Game Show, which is taking place at the time). In the meantime, you can head over to the game’s website to pre-register.
