The so-called ”me-time” refers to a period of time in which one is only for oneself. Find out more in our definition of terms.
That means me-time: spending a relaxing time alone
The term ”me-time” refers to a mostly relaxing time spent alone without other people and unpleasant outside influences. You can do exactly what you want and don’t have to be considerate of others.
These individual breaks serve to simply switch off from everyday life. But they can also be used in a targeted manner to consciously reduce stress, for example in the form of relaxation exercises. Taking time for yourself is also an expression of mindfulness. This means the ability to pay attention to the things you are doing without mentally wandering or evaluating them.

Regular breaks are important
Faced with numerous obligations or multiple burdens from work, household and children, parents or partners in need of care, many people have little time for themselves. They also often spend their free time on their mobile phones or on social media instead of consciously switching off. But especially when you are under stress or in a strenuous phase of life, everyone should plan regular breaks from everyday life.
What do you do during Me Time?
In your Me times you should do what is good for you personally and helps you to relax. What relaxes one person can mean pure stress for another. So find out what makes you happy and make a list of self-care exercises to fall back on. This can be anything from taking a bath to gaming on the computer.
