A notice: This is the podcast version of a video interview that appeared on MeinMMO. After the MeinMMO podcast has been discontinued, we want to give MeinMMO a new podcast home at GameStar.
You know Hauke Gerdes from the Rocket Beans for his pen & paper stories, among other things. But in 2021 he founded Studio Blankhans with two friends to work on Coreborn: Nations of the Ultracore.
Coreborn is an upcoming multiplayer survival game that aims to make a living from building a shared world. In the podcast, MeinMMO editor-in-chief Leya talks to the three Blankhans founders about how they want to make this ambitious project come true.
Because the plan is to leave as big a mark on the gaming landscape with Coreborn as World of Warcraft once did.
All episodes and formats in our podcast overview
In addition, Leya discusses with the Europe developers about the survival genre itself and where it is developing. And they discuss why so many online games that rely on PvP fail. Because Coreborn focuses purely on PvE, i.e. fights against computer opponents.
The survival game is set in the fantasy world of Tormentosia, which is threatened by Sorgoth, the devourer of worlds. The last six kingdoms of Tormentosia join forces to create Ultracore, a shield protecting part of the land. You have to reclaim lands, build and expand cities and defend yourself against attacks.
You can of course find out more about Coreborn and how it plays at MeinMMO. There is also one designed by Hauke on the official website Pen & Paper to the game.
Please note: At the time of the interview, Coreborn’s alpha test, which has since ended, had not yet started, which is why Hauke & Co. speak of it in the future tense.
And here the interview with the Blankhans founders as a video:

Well, or less briefly and concisely, when Micha has to defend himself against Géraldine’s infamous vampire accusations.
