You are on WhatsApp with your Android cell phone and receive an ominous message from Google that the app is fake? We explain to you what’s behind it.
If you have an Android smartphone, you use WhatsApp and you get the following message from Google: “This app is fake…” (“This is a fake app…”), then there is a high probability that you are using an unauthorized and unofficial version of WhatsApp, such as “WhatsApp Plus”.
For security reasons, Google may disable and uninstall these apps. Laut WhatsApp FAQ Unofficial apps are fake WhatsApp apps developed by third party and violate terms of service. These apps are not supported because the functionality of the messenger’s security procedures cannot be checked here.
If you use such apps, the following disadvantages arise: Your privacy and security are at risk. Unofficial apps can contain malware that can steal your data and damage your phone. There is no guarantee that your messages or your information, such as your location or the files you share, will be private and secure. In addition, your WhatsApp account can be blocked temporarily or permanently.
