There are many reasons to archive your chat history from WhatsApp: For example, you create a better overview in the chat menu and make sure that your messages are not deleted forever. You can restore archived chats at any time with just a few clicks.

To archive a one-on-one chat, tap and hold the desired chat window. Then tap on the “Archive” icon.

If you want to send a message in an archived chat, you have to open the overview of the archived chats, which you can open below the non-archived chats.

To archive all chats, first open the options menu in the chat overview via the dotted symbol in the upper right corner.

Now navigate via the following path: “Settings” > “Chats” > “Chat history” > “Archive all chats”.
As soon as you receive a new message in a chat you have archived, it will reappear in your chat menu.
