Metroid Dread Standard Edition and Special Edition pre-order
Metroid Dread is the five mainline items in the 2D Metroid game, which will be released on Nintendo Switch on October 8, 2021. It was developed by Mercury Steam, the studio responsible for Metroid: Sams Returns on 3DS.
We learned a lot about Metroid Fear in the initial presentation, as well as the expanded game graphics shown in Nintendo’s Tree House demo. This is a direct sequel to the Gameboy Advance game Metroid Fusion released in 2002, so some of the story gaps in the main timeline should be eliminated.
Although this is still a side-scrolling shooter with all the actions you would expect from 2D Metroid, the addition of a new enemy called EMMI marks a major change in the way you traverse the map.
The enemy is essentially a robot tracker who ruthlessly hunts you down in certain areas. Caught by EMMI, you will be killed immediately and sent back to the nearest spawning point.
If you are excited about Metroid Dread, you may need to think carefully about the version of the game you want to buy. In addition to the standard version, there is also a special collectible version of Metroid Fear, which is a must-have for any hardcore Metroid.

During Nintendo Direct, a dual amiibo bundle containing Samus and EMMI was also announced. Likewise, if you really want these, we recommend that you book them immediately before they are sold out or the scalpers get them.
