The first trailer for the latest instalment of The Office has been released, this time for Australia, and it doesn’t look… good.
Look, we all know that the American version of The Office is an incredibly popular TV show, far surpassing the British original, but to be honest, I had no idea how many times it’s been remade. In addition to the British original and the American version, there have been 12 different versions of The Office, including versions in Canada, Germany, India, and Poland. Soon, that number will rise to 15, as the Australian remake of the show is coming next month, and Prime Video dropped the first trailer for the mockumentary yesterday. There’s only one small problem, and that’s that it’s one of the most boring things I’ve seen in a long time.
The whole show feels like it came straight out of a machine designed to churn out scenes from The Office, with each beat more awkward than the last, not because the show is meant to be that way but because there is silence when there should be laughs but there aren’t. Looking at the comments on YouTube, many agree that this version of the beloved show won’t be good or popular. Oddly, although the show will be available in 240 countries when it premieres on October 18, the biggest area it will be absent from is the United States – although I don’t think you Americans will miss much.

The Paper, a new spin-off of the US version of The Office, officially launched in May this year, and last week it seemed to have confirmed a new cast, including Domhnall Gleeson from Star Wars and Sabrina Impaccioto from White Lotus. The new show will feature some of the original cast members from the US version of The Office, so hopefully it will do better than the Australian version.
