Sooner or later there will be a Rambo reboot – whether we like it or not. Sylvester Stallone is already thinking about this personally. And if he has his way, there is already the perfect successor for the role: Ryan Gosling.
Too pretty for John Rambo?
Stallone reveals this in one new interview with Jimmy Fallon. The now 77-year-old actor last appeared in 2019 with Rambo: Last Blood in the fifth and so far final part of the series. And even if the film title actually implies something different, a loophole for his return is still open.
Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen. Meanwhile, Stallone is thinking about who could fill his shoes as John Rambo. Stallone explains why he has Ryan Gosling (Barbie, Drive, La La Land) in mind:
I’ll tell you why. I met him for dinner once and obviously we are completely different. He looks good, I don’t. That’s just how it works. No seriously! Can you imagine me in the role of Ken? That doesn’t work.
But he said to me: I was always fascinated by Rambo and went to school dressed as Rambo, which made people scare me away, but that didn’t stop me…
He always mentioned how important Rambo was to him.
And I thought to myself That’s actually interesting. If I ever give the role to someone, it will be to them because they love the character.
I would definitely give my blessing to it, but I’m not sure anyone would jump in and say so Hey, he’s just too good looking for Rambo.

What does Rambo 6 actually look like?
Will Sylvester Stallone return as Rambo? In fact, the actor has shared his ideas about a possible sequel in the past. For example, Rambo seeks refuge in a reservation after the events in Last Blood. Or that Rambo leaves the baton to his official successor in his (really) last battle. Our colleagues from Moviepilot reported about it.
However, fans shouldn’t necessarily expect this. As early as September 2023, the actor indicated that he was less interested in another appearance in the role of the Vietnam veteran:
I could leave Rambo behind. [Seine Geschichte] is simply already told to the end. Some people want us to make another film. All I mean is: What should I fight against? Arthritis?
By the way, Sylvester Stallone is now also there Rocky Balboa und Barney Ross has already left two of his most famous roles behind him. Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed and Jason Statham as Lee Christmas have long since followed in his footsteps.
Whether and which actor will become the new Rambo remains to be seen. Who knows, maybe Sylvester Stallone’s wish will actually come true and it will be Ryan Gosling?
