Artifact was originally supposed to become one of Valve's numerous hits and ride on the wave of success of games like Hearthstone or Gwent. However, the title failed so ingloriously that it can be confidently called first big flop from Valve can designate.
In an interview with Edge Magazine, Steam boss Gabe Newell now spoke openly about missed opportunities and the future of Artifact. According to the CEO of Valve, they are working on a "larger reboot" and want to Comeback »similar to No Man's Sky«
To learn from mistakes
When asked why they wanted to continue to deal with Artifact despite the flop, Newell replied:
"We did an experiment, we got a negative result, and now we have to see if we learned anything from it, so we try again. And that's what (the Artifact team) did and that's what they're ready to publish. Based on the reaction to the game, what was wrong with it? How did we get there? Let's fix these things and try again. "
According to the Valve boss, this reinterpretation should be so extensive that it may even be under the name »Artifact 2« could appear.
