Sega’s New coming soon Crazy Taxi It’s obviously going to be a “AAA” game, but, uh, Sega does know it’s a silly arcade game, right?

When you think of Crazy Taxi, you might not think of it having a big budget, or having the best graphics in the world, or that it has the deepest gameplay ever, but you might think of how good it is , simple and fun. It’s not really a AAA game, but that’s what Sega seems to be trying to do with it. In a recent interview with The Japan Times, Sega Sapporo Studio head and senior executive Takaya Sekawa talked about some of the games the company has developed and is developing.

“We work with bases in Tokyo and overseas for games such as Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis and Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!,” Segawa said. “We are also involved in the development of AAA games, including Crazy Taxi.” Segawa’s comments suggest that Sapporo Studio is only assisting with the games it is developing, but, as he went on to say, “Currently, we are working The studio hasn’t developed any games independently yet, but we plan to in the future.”

Sega revealed at last year’s Game Awards that it was reviving Crazy Taxi, along with other classics from its catalog like Jet Set Radio and Streets of Rage, for its aging and underappreciated games. Leveraging IP is part of an overall effort to breathe new life into it. A lot of these could be part of Sega’s mysterious super game, which would make the triple-A description make more sense, since giving a game like Crazy Taxi a triple-A budget seems like an odd choice. For now, though, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see Sega’s plans for the classic arcade game.
