In Elden Ring, you never really know who’s on the dark side or the light side. Only the nomadic traders who sit peacefully at their campfires have definitely done nothing to you. And still, killing them might be a good idea – if you can do it with your conscience.
Traders keep their inventory – but drop something else
You will find the traders distributed throughout the open world – mostly they seek shelter in hard-to-reach or hidden places and sit there comfortably by a crackling campfire. Each vendor has something different to offer – be it armor, weapons, recipe books, or crafting materials. But if you hope that dead dealers will leave their entire shop for you, you are wrong. That would be too easy. Instead, you can find it on the corpse of each trader a single bead of sound.
You can in turn offer these to the twin maiden shells in your hub in the Round Table. With each sound pearl, your trade offer expands and so you create a huge shop in your hub step by step – instead of running headlessly through the whole open world to find a very specific item at one of the countless dealers.
Of course we don’t want to promote digital murder of peaceful traders under any circumstances. ahem. Just like we don’t do with defenseless dragons. But IF you decide to do so, it could make your gaming experience that much more enjoyable.

From Software outdoes itself with Elden Ring – Test/Review
Here’s how you can undo your decision
If you feel bad at night and see the faces of your innocent victims in your dreams, you can also revive the dealers. To do this, visit the turtle Miriel in the Church of Vows in Liurna (the area above Limgrave) and select “Absolution” on the statue next to her.
This will revive (some) NPCs and make enemy characters you accidentally attacked become your friends again. For this, however, you need the rare item Sky Dew, which is difficult to find. An interactive map can help.
However, you should note that the trader Kalé in the Church of Elleh in Limgrave Part of a quest line is. While you can still complete these if you kill him first, you’d better think twice about his death just to be on the safe side.
