There are questions on which people’s opinions simply inevitably differ. Whether you have to use der, die or das before Nutella or whether pineapple belongs on a pizza, for example. And recently, people also seem to be divided over whether Deadpool & Wolverine is a good film.
The latest spin-off from the Marvel universe was released today and the first press reviews of the film are gradually coming in. You can find our own here:
However, the international reviews do not paint as uniform a picture of the third Deadpool adventure as initially expected. In fact, the opinions of the reviewers differ greatly. What is behind it?
While Deadpool & Wolverine on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes with a decent 81 percent positive ratings, the film can be compared to the competition Metacritic only received a mediocre score of 54. In particular, the reviews of some major newspapers push the average score on Metacritic down.

Deadpool & Wolverine will probably amuse its target audience of geeks and online users, but it’s just a lot of hot air and not much more.

It’s hard to see this film as a love letter to anything other than Marvel Studios’ corporate aspirations. Deadpool & Wolverine made its hero the worst kind of comic book character: one who stands up for nothing.

The British The Telegraph even headlines that it is a miracle how desperate this film is
and gives Deadpool & Wolverine a miserable rating of 20/100, saying that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are put in a silly film that feels like an intellectual dead end for the franchise. With currently 45 reviews, this results in a Metacritic score of only 54.

The film is rated much more positively on Rotten Tomatoes. There are already 145 reviews, especially from critics on smaller film portals. And most of them agree that Deadpool & Wolverine a bloody and hilarious fun that benefits from the excellent chemistry between its leading actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
Rohan Patel from ComicBookMovie.com writes: Deadpool & Wolverine is the ultimate Marvel movie.
Brian Truitt from USA Today thinks it is the best MCU film since Avengers: Endgame. And Johnny Oleksinski of the New York Post judges: Certainly the best thing Marvel has done since Spider-Man: No Way Home of 2021.
In addition, the film is much funnier than its two predecessors.
So who is right? We can’t decide for you who you should believe in the face of these mixed reviews. Our film expert Vali wasn’t 100 percent enthusiastic in his review either; the story is simply not cleverly constructed enough. However, the film is definitely a lot of fun and puts you in a good mood – and that’s what a superhero adventure should be about.
