In WoW Shadowlands you can finally play the contents of Patch 9.1 since June 30th. This includes a new pact campaign, a new raid and much more. You can read what awaits you in the patch in our overview of the WoW patch.
At the end of the new raid Sanctum of Dominance you traditionally expect a cinematic that drives the overarching story of the addon. It is precisely this cinematic that causes a lot of frustration and ridicule among WoW players. We explain to you what exactly bothers you about it, but would like one first Spoiler-warning pronounce.
Warning, spoilers!
This article tells you what happens at the end of the new raid. If you want to find out for yourself, you should stop reading now.
But before we talk about what exactly bothers the fans about the cutscene, it’s best to watch it for yourself:

“I will never serve” – no way!
Probably the most iconic moment in cinematic is Sylvana’s decision to turn away from the jailer because she never wants to serve him. At first glance, that might sound noble and heroic and finally bring Sylvanas back to the side of the good guys. At second glance, however, many fans scratch their heads and ask themselves: “And what did you do with the last two extensions?”
In fact, the banshee queen has been under the command of the jailer for quite a while. After all, because of him she started the fourth war, set the tree of the night elves on fire and betrayed her allies. But just let this meme speak for itself:

The fact that World of Warcraft is about a lot of drama and visually powerful moments is nothing new and has often been one of Blizzard’s strengths so far. So why does it bother the fans right now? Reddit users Agleza sums it up pretty well:
“The difference to the Lich King, the Burning Legion and so on is that their stories have evolved and been put into context. The jailer, on the other hand, is a completely new development. That’s why all these dramatic moments don’t work: There are simply no far-reaching consequences or prices that have to be paid because we all know history is far from over. “
There was a similar moment earlier in the patch when Tyrande and Sylvannas fought each other. The whole thing was really epic staged in the old Blizzard manner, but it wasn’t more than a nice fight without consequences.
The entire WoW story for reading:
Part 1: Warcraft 1 – 3
Teil 2: World of Warcraft & The Burning Crusade
Teil 3: Wrath of the Lich King & Cataclysm
Teil 4: Mists of Pandaria & Warlords of Draenor
Teil 5: Legion & Battle for Azeroth
Part 6: Shadowlands up to patch 9.1
What does this mean for the story of Patch 9.2?
This is exactly the question that many fans are now asking themselves. Many fear that the inconsequential odyssey will continue. Sharizord has already pictured the sequel very precisely:

Below the posting there are some absurd and possible ideas about which part Tyrande will play. Everything from a second Sylvanas, who is also out for revenge, to an alternative timeline idea a la Warlords of Draenor is included.
Many see the problem in the way the story is told in WoW Shadowlands. RedditCensorCouncil describes it quite aptly:
“One cliffhanger after the next. The story takes a step forward and then you have to wait another six months for it to continue and in the end the story fades into nothing. Of course, there is some filler material everywhere that brings us closer to the world , but the main story doesn’t seem to exist in the last few expansions. “
This eternal wait for the next bite of the story is much more frustrating for many than the sometimes inconsistently told story. how do you see it? What do you think of the latest story development and what do you think, how will the story continue?
