In recent months, graphics card prices have fallen. Among other things, we reported that the EIA is getting closer again in all performance classes. Now the prices for the graphics cards from the largest manufacturer Nvidia could fall again in the coming weeks.
The Newsportal Wccftech reports that Nvidia has informed its partners that they have been able to reduce the production costs of their graphics cards by 8 to 12 percent. These savings should be passed on, so they could also have a positive effect on the prices for end customers.
When exactly this will happen and to what extent is difficult to estimate. If the rumors are correct, that would be the next sign of a sustained trend towards an improvement in prices.
Availability of graphics cards is also increasing
The website 3DCenter has created a graphic of the current availability and price of the tickets. Here we see that prices have been falling since around mid-May last year, while availability has been steadily increasing since September:
The lower prices of the cryptocurrency Ethereum, whose mining (still) requires powerful graphics cards, can also be seen. Even if the prices have recently stabilized, the Toms Hardware website only stopped again yesterday Continuation of falling prices for GPUs.
In addition, Intel, a third major manufacturer, will enter the graphics card market in the second quarter of 2022. This should increase availability again, which could have a positive effect on prices.

Price reductions are not a guarantee
But there are also factors that could have a negative impact on prices, such as the Ukraine conflict. As a result, manufacturers could run out of key resources, which in turn could potentially drive up prices.
My colleague Alex takes a closer look at the key influencing factors in his analysis linked below. In it he tells you what speaks for and against falling prices and gives a cautious forecast as to when prices in the RRP range could be reached again.
