evil west It doesn’t seem to get the attention it deserves. The game did not appear at any major Summer Game Festival events. While we recently got our first look at the gameplay, we’re hoping for more in the summer show.
But now, thankfully, Flying Wild Hog offers ten minutes of gameplay, including the HUD and everything.
The video above is full of things to dissect and talk about. Evil West looks like an interesting blend of melee combat and traditional shooting. Although it appears to be a marksman at first, melee plays a key role in the flow of action.
A lever-action rifle is used for long-range combat, while a hammer-finging revolver is an option for close-quarters combat. There doesn’t appear to be a lot of melee combos in the footage, but it looks like we’ll be using the environment to maximize damage, such as punching enemies into spikes.
Later in the video, we’ll see more supernatural weapons. Evil West takes place in an alternate version of the Wild West, so it could justify things like electric gloves and other advanced weapons.
The structure of the game appears to be rather arcade-like, with limited battle arenas and well-defined crossing points. Still, the perks and combat upgrade menu – which does appear in the footage – has us very excited about its potential in combat.
Of course, a game like this wouldn’t be complete without a boss fight, and the video shows one such encounter. Overall, it’s a very stacked trailer and makes a great case for the game.
Evil West is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on September 20.
