What if 4k was paid on YouTube? Tests that have just been completed make it possible to ask about the will of the giant on this topic.
What if watching YouTube content in 4K became a paid privilege? In any case, this is the experiment set up by Google with a specific number of users. And apparently this little test has just ended, as YouTube announces in its networks.
A change on YouTube?
We have completely disabled this experience. Users should now be able to access 4K quality resolutions without a premium subscription. We’re here if you have more questions.
So to be able to use 4K, you had to be a member of YouTube Premium or still pay 11.99 dollars/month. For the record, this service offers ad-free streaming of all videos hosted on YouTube, exclusive original content featuring the site’s key creators, offline and background playback of videos on mobile. Lots of quality stuff.
Let’s never forget that experiments that were heavily criticized in the past, such as the famous removal of the “dislike” (the red thumb) button, have led to at least definitive changes. So we’re not immune to a paid 4K resolution to save money in the future.
