Microsoft has so far only released Windows 11 digitally and not commercially. However, that could change soon, because appropriate boxes have now appeared.
- Microsoft has only released Windows 11 digitally so far.
- Now a retail version is to be released.
- This should be a physical disk – not a download.
Windows 11 has been available since last October. However, Microsoft only offers the new operating system digitally as a free upgrade via download. A retail version hasn’t gone on sale – until now.
The box design of a so-called retail version of Windows 11 has been circulating on Twitter since the weekend L isting at the US electronics retailer Best Buy
Windows 11 available as a retail version
If you want to buy the new operating system from Microsoft in the store, you have to reckon with a price of 139.99 US dollars, around 134 dollars, for the home version at Best Buy. The professional version costs 199.99 US dollars, around 190 dollars.
You will receive the operating system on a USB stick and the license for an installation. Alternatively, a license is also available from the retailer as a digital version at the same price. It is still unknown whether a sales version will also be available in stores. Microsoft currently only sells licenses for Windows 10 itself.
Windows 11
With Windows 11, Microsoft has opened the next chapter in the history of the operating system and cleaned up legacy issues. Here you can find out what innovations await you now and in the future.
Windows 11 licenses are currently only available with a new device. If a sales version goes on sale, the offer at Best Buy indicates a comparatively lower price. Windows 10 currently costs 145 dollars in the home version in this country, the professional version 259 dollars. Both are also available as USB sticks.
