The Windows 11 April Monthly Update makes it easier than ever for users to change their computer’s default browser. The patch also closes two security holes.

Change the default browser in seconds
With Windows 11, Microsoft had first implemented a tedious method of changing the default browser, which required switching from one protocol to another to achieve its goals. Now all you have to do is go Settings > Apps > Default appsselect the browser of your choice and click to confirm. This therefore still requires some manipulation, but the whole thing is much more intuitive than before.
Two zero-day loopholes closed
The update also closes two zero-day vulnerabilities that you’ve probably never heard of: Good news, they won’t hurt you!
CVE-2022-26904 and CVE-2022-24521 allowed an escalation of rights in the event of an exploit, which could have led to the remote takeover of the computer. The former required complex intervention by the attacker, while the latter, which was easier to exploit, presumably already was. Microsoft has pulled the rug out from under the feet of hackers.
These are not the only two vulnerabilities addressed by this patchwhich fills more than a hundred, but these two vulnerabilities were the most important.
Small improvements implemented
Microsoft also explains have solved a problem when selecting documents in OneDrivewhich requires reselecting some files after renaming. The search function interprets the term “widget” better to provide more relevant results, and It is now possible to display up to four notifications at the same time.
If your computer hasn’t already prompted you to update Windows 11, you can download the patch manually from the menu Settings > Windows Update.
