If you’ve only been following PC releases on Steam, then you may have missed the release of The Astronauts’ new game, Witchfire. The game launched on the Epic Games Store about a year ago, and while it didn’t have a lot of content at launch, it received almost universal praise.
We also happen to be big fans of Witchfire, and the developer has some very good news for those who have been eagerly awaiting the game’s arrival on Steam.

Astronaut has announced that Witchfire will be coming to Steam Early Access later this year. The game is not finished yet, and it will not be finished when it comes to Steam. That’s why it will remain in Early Access on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
While there’s no confirmed release date yet (sometime in Q4), our guess is that it’ll probably be around October. If you want to stay updated, you can add it to your Steam wishlist in the meantime.
The version that Steam players will have access to later this year will include more content, including today’s big announcement: Wailing Towers. The update includes a brand new map with some sort of cosmic horror theme. It also comes with a set of new enemies, new gear, and more.
Witchfire combines elements from rescue games with classic shooter and RPG mechanics. While this loop is retained, several significant changes have been made to make the initial journey more interesting. There are new loot to acquire, new skills, and streamlined progression to make you more powerful early on. The changes to pickups are so big, in fact, that The Astronauts is calling it Arcana 2.0.
If you’re interested in this major update, you can play Witchfire right now on the Epic Games Store.
