Baldur’s Gate 3 finally added mod support with patch 7, and it’s safe to say it’s quickly become popular with players.
Modding Baldur’s Gate 3 has been popular so far, but it wasn’t until the latest patch this week that mod support was introduced that it became even more feasible. Less than 24 hours after the patch went live, Larian Studios founder and Baldur’s Gate 3 director Swen Vincke said that over a million mods had been installed. To be clear, there are obviously not that many mods available, this is just the total number of all the players who have installed mods, but it’s an impressive and honestly a bit scary number. You guys really, really want to mod the game, right?

A few hours later, ModDB and mod.io founder Scott Resimanis responded to Vincke, saying the game “just ended.” [three million] Install and Speed Up”, so I say it again, you are all eager to mod the game, right? Mod Manager really makes installing mods a lot easier, so it’s no surprise that so many mods were downloaded – you can only imagine how many mods have been installed since then.

In addition to official mod support, some new evil endings have been added, giving “the most sinister gaming experiences a darker ending.” Split-screen co-op has also been improved, a bit like a Lego game, and when players get close, “the two halves of the screen will dynamically merge.”
However, the update did disappoint some fans regarding one particular character, and it’s not available on Mac and consoles just yet, but it’s still coming. Larian also later made it clear to everyone that Patch 7 isn’t the final update, especially with cross-platform play coming soon, so even if it takes a while, at some point, you PC players will be able to play all your favorite mods with your console friends.
