From June 16, 2024, the dragons will dance again as soon as season 2 of House of the Dragon starts. Showrunner Ryan Condal is now revealing how unpretentious this will be: In the coming episodes, fans two major battles that are supposed to surpass everything that came before in the first season.
How House of the Dragon wants to outdo itself
At least that is what Condal claims in an interview with Den of GeekTo be fair, there was actually only one really big battle in the first season of House of the Dragon: when Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) besieged the so-called Crabfeeder (Daniel Scott-Smith). But in the third episode, that isn’t even the focus.
According to Condal, this will definitely change in season 2. After all, the dispute over the Iron Throne between Team Black
and Team Green
then really go all out.
We’re fitting two whole Avengers movies into our shooting schedule. These battles are like episodes of their own. [In Staffel 2] there are two of the biggest sequences we’ve ever filmed for House of the Dragon. Both of them surpass anything we ever did for Season 1. [Die Schlachten] correspond to their own episodes that take place within other episodes.

House of the Dragon: In the new trailer for season 2, a bitter war for the throne breaks out
More dragons for the dragon dance
It remains exciting to see where and how exactly Targaryen meets Targaryen and thus dragon meets dragon. Incidentally, there is even the potential that House of the Dragon will overshadow the mother series Game of Thrones – at least when it comes to battles involving dragons.
After all, in Game of Thrones, a maximum of three dragons were seen on screen at the same time: Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal. In House of the Dragon, on the other hand, there are already nine dragons in Season 1, while five more are added in Season 2. And they are not all on the same side. That makes a whopping 14 dragons in season 2 of House of the Dragon.
Whether House of the Dragon will manage to outshine legendary battles such as the Battle of the Bastards or the Massacre of Hartheim remains to be seen. 16. June 2024 We’ll know more once season 2 of House of the Dragon starts airing on Sky in Europey.
