Far Cry and Bioshock are two of the most popular single-player shooter franchises of all time, and while both are a few years old, both games have aged quite well, both graphically and in terms of gameplay.
Still, one wonders what the two games could look like with today’s technology. The YouTube channel TeaserPlay, which has created a tech demo for both games, provides an answer to this question, showing fan replicas of the classics in Unreal Engine 5.
Old games in a new guise
The Youtube channel of TeaserPlay consists of a team of indie graphic designers dedicated to turning such ideas into reality. On her channel you can find dozens of concept trailers for old games like GTA Vice City or Red Dead Redemption and what a remake of them in Unreal Engine 5 could look like.
In their two most recent videos they present you the two shooter classics Far Cry and Bioshock. The new features of the Unreal Engine 5 are used to the full.
- Lumen illuminates the scenes realistically and dynamically
- Nanite increases the level of detail in the geometry
- Virtual shadow maps provide high-resolution shadows
According to their makers, the demos themselves run on an Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090 with dynamic 4K resolution and 60 frames per second.

The two tech demos are just concepts and not real games. Still, they give us a taste of what’s possible and what future games may look like.
But no matter how bombastic the two demos may look, they are not quite perfect. For example, at the 00:58 timestamp in the Far Cry video, you can see crabs crawling across the sand moonwalken
. However, they are still worth seeing UE5 projects.
From our point of view, the Unreal Engine 5 demos in this article are visually very impressive, but how important is good graphics in games to you anyway? Is a good art style more valuable than realistic graphics? Have you already played a game with Unreal Engine 5 and did you particularly like the visuals of this one? Tell us what you think about it in the comments!
