We’re at another peak behind the scenes of Call of Duty: Pacific Warzone and Vanguard RICOCHET Anti-Cheat. In addition to the typical info you’d expect from a persistent cheating problem in a popular FPS, we’ve also learned about the latest tricks in RICOCHET’s arsenal – Pull the gun out of the cheater.

This all comes from an official post on the Call of Duty website with some insights from the RICOCHET team and Q&A about the ongoing updates and questions facing the game they rule. The first question involves a question on the minds of the majority of Call of Duty players – if RICOCHET is so good, why do I still encounter cheaters?

You can see RICOCHET in Warzone Pacific Season 4.

“As we take steps to ensure that our systems can identify and respond to known bad behavior; we fully expect cheaters to continue to engineer new bad behaviors – some we can foresee and some we need to develop new systems to deal with .”

However, it wasn’t until the section dedicated to cheater mitigations — actions taken directly at cheaters in the mid-game — that we didn’t know much about the newly discovered practice of taking weapons from cheaters. In fact, they can’t even punch in this newfound disarming state, leaving honest players absolutely harmless and easy to pick.

According to this graph published in the aforementioned blog post, the increase in cheating reduction appears to be related to a reduction in cheating reports.

The post continued: “We have other mitigations in place, and we may leak these beans in the future. Some are active now; The mission, that is to piss off as many cheaters as possible.”
