Crouching Dragon Dynasty Coming to Xbox Game Pass (including the PC version) on March 3rd, it’s going pretty well for our money.
Drawing on legends from the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history, it shares some elements with Dynasty Warriors, but has very different dark fantasy twists in its proceedings. It’s also a Souls-like game, so players get to experience the bleak atmosphere and grim combat, but again, there’s an added twist: lots of AI companions to help you on your journey.
Wolong launched Game Pass on the first day. As a well-known game from a very mature studio, if many people who don’t like soul games suddenly come into contact with a game with a very low barrier to entry. Despite all the hype that Elden Ring is the most accessible Souls game to date, paying £70 for it is still a daunting prospect if you’ve given up on the genre before. But Crouching Dragon could be the route into the genre for many people, since it’s less intimidating and only takes two big meals to get in.
We’ll have to wait and see. But beyond its appeal to those who refuse to be repeatedly kicked out of their noses, Crouching Dragon has a lot to offer fans of the genre, as Sherif explains in the video above. It’s also clear that Team Ninja has been tweaking this thing until the last second to make sure it feels good to play, and that its systems and UI are easy to read or understand, so the only barriers between players and success are their own skills and Not obtuse game design.
Let’s imagine!
