Anyone who continues to play World of WarCraft in the classic version can look forward to a new challenge: the new hardcore mode started today on the Test Realm.
Anyone looking for a special challenge in World of WarCraft Classic can look forward to the new hardcore realms. These are available for the classic version of the MMORPG from today on the Public Test Realm (PTR).
What is it about? Similar to hardcore characters in the Diablo series, you will only have one life with your character on the hardcore realms and therefore only one chance to reach the highest possible level and participate in dangerous activities such as the Molten Core raid. Those who die in the process can no longer return to their bodies, but remain in the world as ghosts. In this form, you can handle last-minute matters on the realm, such as transferring leadership of a guild to someone else. But the bottom line is: Death is the end!
Other additions to the hardcore realms on the PTR:
- Mak’gora and other PvP changes
- Battlegrounds are not enabled on the hardcore realms.
- If you really want to test your skills against other player characters, you can enter /makgora initiate a fight to the death. The other player character then receives an invitation and can accept the risky duel.
- A new tracking aura will visually indicate how many duels a player character has completed and survived.
- Protection mechanisms and class changes
- Across the PTR, the team is testing new protections designed to minimize the impact of uncontrollable circumstances such as flight master disconnects.
- Class abilities and spells are modified to prevent revival (both your own and that of other players). We’re also changing quests that require PvP markers or player character death in the quest line.
- Enemies are bound to their default spawn and path areas to prevent player characters from luring them to other lower level quest areas.
