World of Warcraft finally turns his character editor upside down. In the new chapter WoW: Shadowlands players get a modern user interface and completely new customization options. Although the Blizzard MMORPG has been ahead of the competition in international comparison for many years, its somewhat old-fashioned character creation still lags behind games like Black Desert Online.
In the Alpha to Shadowlands you could now take a look at the new editor for the first time. But fans are concerned about one detail. We explain what is behind it and show you what the eighth WoW expansion brings new in terms of character customization.

Shadowlands is getting started
Minimalist new design
First of all, the new interface catches the eye much more airy and tidy comes along as the last few years. The preview images for optical adjustments have been removed, instead you choose hairstyles, accessories etc. via a simple slider. Here you can see comparison pictures of the old class and adjustment screens.
More details for your characters
Also new: a whole range of new skin and eye colors for all breeds. It will also more detailed variants of body jewelry, tattoos and scars give. This makes the characters much more individual than before. However, there will still be no detailed face editors and adjustment options for body size and shape.
Decline in role play?
Role players are frustrated with the new design. The first voices are heard on Reddit drastically abbreviated descriptions of the races and classes stand out. For some role-playing fans, these were essential to get an idea of their character and their history. The user nhoyd writes: »These scraps of the lore make up an RPG. It's a shame to simplify it that way. ”
This decision but does not necessarily have to be final. Since the editor is still in the Alpha of Shadowlands, it is quite possible that the short description texts are only used as placeholders. Even the general design can change a lot until the start of WoW: Shadowlands in the course of the year. So fans should be patient.
But there are still other changes in the house. A leak suggests that Shadowlands could contain a car driver. In addition, evidence of ray tracing support was discovered and the loot system is also being turned inside out.
