Game News WoW The War Within: A new mode in 20 years of history, the MMORPG slowly turns into a single-player game
With “War Within,” Blizzard is introducing a unique game mode that allows solo players to fully enjoy the story told in this new expansion.
A story mode is coming to WoW
It’s time for change World of Warcraft which recently welcomed its new expansion, The war within. The first act in a trilogy intended to mark a narrative renewal for the MMORPG, The War Within also adds a ton of new content to Blizzard’s flagship game, which celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year.
One of these notable new features is precisely the implementation of a story mode for the new Nerub’ar Palace raid. This game mode will allow players who are primarily interested in WoW’s lore to fully enjoy their adventure without worrying too much about the difficulty level. Story mode is designed for play “between one and five players” and is currently notably only available for the Nerub’ar Palace, but the studio has hinted that it may offer it for other raids in the future.
A first experiment
Blizzard presented the story mode as a first “experiment” that could soon become a permanent offer for players. With its previous expansions, the studio had already made the experience more or less liberal for players who want to live a solo adventure, and War Within reinforces precisely this aspect with the story mode, but also the excavations (detailed in the original version), which resemble semi-permanent mini-dungeons that can be completed alone or with friends. Blizzard therefore wants to fill as many player profiles as possible, a laudable desire and a real reinvention of the World of Warcraft experience.
