For many years there have always been new parts of the WRC racing series – and now the next offshoot seems to be in the house. Electronic Arts should not only be shortly before the official presentation, but even before the release of the title.
Those who are interested in racing games and the WRC in particular will obviously have reason to be happy very soon. A new report suggests that the new part of the series will be officially presented soon – and even better: a timely release.
The source of this report is the leaker billbil_kun, who has published numerous correct leaks before an official announcement in the past few months, including mostly the upcoming game line-ups on PlayStation Plus or Hi-Fi Rush from Tango Gameworks.
According to his new tweet, publisher Electronic Arts will officially present WRC 2023 shortly and publish it in a timely manner; the title is ready for release. In view of the hit rate of the leaker so far, this information – a small residual risk excluded – can almost be accepted as given.
EA has not yet announced any information about the next WRC game. This year’s part is quite important for the entire franchise. Reason: Since 2015, the WRC video games have always been developed by the French studio Kylotonn, but in the meantime Codemasters, which belongs to EA, has fished the license.
The racing experts acquired the license rights in 2020, but were then taken over by EA in 2021. The rights are now held by Electronic Arts until 2027 – and together with Codemasters they are now releasing the next game apparently in a timely manner. It will also be Codemasters’ first WRC game, so you can expect some innovations compared to the Kylotonn games.
Most recently, WRC Generations was published last year.
